Hamilton Draws – Video Layers and Frame Animation

Animating in Photoshop is now possible, as long as you realize this isn’t Flash. Photoshop treats everything as clips, so here’s a quick rundown of how to animate and tween in Photoshop CC. I go over how to control Photoshop’s video layers, and some of the new features added to the timeline since CS6.

  1. Hi… wonderfull page! I get amazed, thx..

So I tried, it work fine, but is it possible to make the frame between altered frames visible, holding the previous draw frame?

Let’s say you have a video layer. Draw on 1.
    Draw on 10
Frame 2 to 9 are blank.
I want the frames 2 to 9 showing the first draw.
    Is it possible? (without duplicate)
    Thx :)

    1. You could use a single layer to hold a single frame for as long as you need. Holding a frame in a video layer can only be achieved through duplication.

You should check out the tutorial Layer Animation by Alex Grigg, it contains a lot of helpful information about creating animations with static photoshop-layers.

  2. Thank you for your video. I am trying to get my head around making animation and yours has been one of the most helpful. There are so many choices and it is difficult to decide which strategy works for my way of working
